Lebogang Mokubela is the 2016 Standard Bank Young Entrepreneur of the Year and the founder of award-winning Lemok Group, which is a township-based South African holding company with a variety of investments in growing disruptive businesses and sectors. The Lemok Group has 3 subsidiaries; Lemok Agency which is a full-service digital marketing agency, Lemok Kasivators which is a township-focused brand activations company and Lemok Academy which is a BBBEE aligned skills and development training business.
The Lemok Group was awarded the Best Company in Services Category at the 2018 Gauteng Township Entrepreneurship Awards. Lemok Agency which works predominantly with township and rural shopping centres from a marketing perspective is currently building the “Bidvest of the township”; the first R1-billion holding company based (and to originate) in the township. Lebogang also launched Cava Sneakers in 2020 which is an e-commerce first sneaker retailer, focusing on the township and urban market.
On 1 June 2019, Lemok Group launched South Africa’s first township-based mobile network provider, Kasi Mobile, following the launch of its Libra by Lemok smartphone in December 2019. The group aims to provide access to data to all South Africa’s major cities, towns, townships as well as rural areas through the mobile network. Kasi Mobile operates as a data-only service provider, with packages powered by both Telkom and MTN.
